Women’s Soccer falls to Utica 4-0 in nonconference action

Utica, NY- Utica dominated possession, carrying play throughout the match, and used three first-half goals enroute to a 4-0 nonconference victory this afternoon over MCLA at the Pioneer Turf and Field Athletic Complex. With the win Utica improves to 3-6-1 while MCLA falls to 1-6-2.

The Pioneers struck first in the 9th minute when junior Julianna Beaulieu (Chicopee, MA) took a through ball from Jacinta Kaminski (Holland Patent, NY) and in alone was able to put it past MCLA senior keeper Jillian Currier (Troy, NY).

In the 24th minute senior Ro Hernandez (Carmel, NY) would find herself in alone on a very similar looking play. This time Currier charged out to make the save but unfortunately for the Trailblazers, Kaminski would find the rebound and make it 2-0 Pioneers.

At the 37-minute mark Utica's Kaela Mochak (Westfield, MA) would make it 3-0 off a corner kick from Hernandez.

The Pioneers would keep up the pressure coming out of halftime. Just under a minute into the second half, Hernandez would score her 2nd goal of the afternoon as again a well-placed through ball would lead a Pioneer to break in alone on Currier.

Senior Alyssa Porter's (Boylston, MA) shot on goal with just 20 seconds left in the game would prove be the one and only shot for the visitors in the match.

Utica would outshoot MCLA 38-1 and finish with an 11-0 advantage in corners.

Pioneer junior goalkeepers Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY) and Cierra Doolan (Frankfort, NY) would combine for the shutout. Connolly would be credited with the win improving to 3-6-1. MCLA keeper Jillian Currier would make 19 saves but took the loss falling to 1-6-2.
