NORTH ADAMS, Mass.—The MCLA Women's Soccer Team wrapped up their non-conference schedule this evening when they welcomed the Fisher College Falcons to Shewcraft Field. Gwendolyn Duggan and Natalie Rich each scored twice to power the Trailblazers to a 5-1 victory on a rainy night in the Berkshires.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • MCLA sophomore midfielder Gwendolyn Duggan (Palmer, MA) bookended the first half with two goals on either side of a half played chiefly in the Fisher College defensive end. Duggan's first goal was unassisted in the game's fourth minute. She then closed out the half with her second goal of the season in the 43rd minute. First-year midfielder Catelyn Hodge (Schenectady, NY) was credited with her second assist of the year.
  • The Falcons' Jennifer Do Carmo got the visitors in the scorers' column in the 56th minute with an assist from Jenna McCullough. The goal was Do Carmo's second, while the assist was McCullough's team-high fourth.
  • Another Trailblazers found the back of the net two times to open the second half when senior midfielder Natalie Rich (Waterford, NY) scored her second and third tallies of the year. The first goal came in the 61st minute, with junior forward Cidnee Frymire (Tonawanda, NY) picking up the assist off a corner kick. A little over four minutes later, Rich again found the strings, knocking home a pass from Duggan. The assist was Duggan's team-high fifth of the year.
  • First-year forward Lauren Campbell (Bennington, VT) rounded out the offense for MCLA, picking up her first collegiate goal in the 75th minute.
  • Trailblazers' keeper Destiny Alexandra Rivas (Leicester, MA) picked up the win to improve their record to 2-4-0 on a pair of first-half saves as she kept her sheet clean. First-year keeper Mallory Amirian (Haverhill, MA) stopped three shots in the second half for MCLA.
  • Fisher College's Olivia Leo spent the game under siege as the Trailblazers had a 40-15 advantage in shots, including a 22-6 edge in shots on goal. Leo crossed the century mark with her 17 saves, bringing her season total to 107, but still dropped her record to 2-9-3.

UP NEXT:

On Saturday, MCLA will be back in action when they play host to Bridgewater State for a MASCAC matchup with the Bears at Shewcraft Field. The teams will take the pitch for a 1 p.m. kickoff. Fans are encouraged to arrive early because there will be pre-game festivities as the Trailblazers will honor their seniors on Senior Night.
