Beckwith earns 200th win as Volleyball sweeps

Lyndonville, VT- The MCLA Volleyball team took a pair of nonconference wins this afternoon over Bay Path (3-1) and host NVU-Lyndon (3-0). MCLA improved to 6-2 on the year.

With the wins, the Trailblazers earned Head Coach Amanda Beckwith her 200th career victory. A proud alum and former All-Conference player, Beckwith took the helm at MCLA in 2006. The 2015 ECAC and MASCAC Coach of the Year, Beckwith is the program's winningest coach in school history and has coached 20 all-conference players.

MCLA 3   Bay Path 1

MCLA would take their first match of the day against Bay Path 25-21, 25-27, 25-14, 25-18.

After trading the first two sets the Trailblazers were able to impose their will on the Wildcats. Tied at 13-all, MCLA would use a 12-1 run to close out the 3rd. In the 4th, the Trailblazers dominance would continue as they jumped out to a 19-9 lead before cruising to a 25-18 set win and take the match 3 sets to 1.

Sophomore Chloie Garber (Eagle River, AK) would lead MCLA with 19 kills and 9 digs. First years Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA) (22 digs and 9 kills), Shannon O'Brien (Unionville, CT) (37 assists and 11 digs), and Anais Badio (Las Vegas, NV) (9 kills and 7 digs) were all instrumental in the win. Sophomore Ellie Walter-Goodspeed (Auburn, WA) finished with 17 digs.

Bay Path first year Anastasiya Tsetsko (Horsham, PA) led all players with 18 kills.  

MCLA 3   NVU-Lyndon 0

In the nightcap it was more of the same as MCLA swept NVU-Lyndon 25-12, 25-16, 25-10.

Tied at 9-all the Trailblazers would rip off a 16-3 run to take the 1st set. In the 2nd the Hornets would jump out to an early 5-1 lead before MCLA would answer with 10 straight points for an 11-5 lead. They would eventually take the set 25-16.

The Trailblazers were never threatened in the 3rd set finishing off NVU-Lyndon 25-10 and the 3-0 for the sweep.

Chloie Garber again led the charge with 9 kills and 6 aces. Ellie Walter-Goodspeed matched her game one total of 17 digs. Elizabeth Brown finished with 6 kills and 11 digs.

MCLA's next match will be Tuesday as they travel to Henniker, NH to take on the Pilgrims of New England College at 6pm.
