Women's Soccer falls to Nichols in season opener

Dudley, MA- Grace Killman would score twice and add an assist to lead Nichols to a 5-1 decision over MCLA this afternoon in the season opener for both programs.
Killman would open the scoring in the 18th minute and teammate Madison Clark would add another less than five minutes later giving the Bison a 2-0 lead which they would take into halftime.
Niah Samboy would score just three minutes into the second half giving the hosts a 3-0 edge before MCLA's Sophie Elser (Pittsfield, MA) would answer with her first of the season and put the Trailblazers on the board.
MCLA would continue to battle throughout the second half, but two late goals less than a minute and half apart would close the door and give Nichols the 5-1 decision.
Nichols owned a decisive edge in shots (39-4) and corners (15-3). Adie Hughes would earn the win in net playing a scoreless first half.
MCLA's Eva Bassallo (Petersburgh, NY) assisted on Elser's goal. Keeper Jillian Currier (Troy, NY) took the loss despite making 14 saves.
Nichols (1-0) hosts Smith College next Wednesday. MCLA (0-1) returns home to take on Emmanuel Saturday at 12pm.
