Women’s Soccer Finish 2024 Season With 8-0 Loss to Bridgewater

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.—The MCLA Women's Soccer Team wrapped up their 2024 season by welcoming the Bridgewater State Bears to Shewcraft Field for a MASCAC matchup. Two MCLA goalkeepers combined for 21 saves, while Bridgewater's Sydney Dewhurst had her second career multi-goal game, bringing in a haul for the Bears in their 8-0 win.

  • Records: Bridgewater State University Bears 10-4-3 (MASCAC 6-0-1) | MCLA Trailblazers 3-13-0 (MASCAC 1-6-0)
  • Series History: Bridgewater State leads the all-time series 29-8-4, including a 3-0 win by the Bears in Bridgewater last season on October 28th. MCLA won the first-ever meeting of the teams, 2-1, in North Adams on October 4, 1987.

SENIOR DAY

Before the first game, the Trailblazers recognized their graduating class as part of senior night celebrations. The coaches, teammates, family members, and fans honored Anna Lewis and Natalie Rich for their time with the soccer program. Although their time with the program may end, they will forever be a part of the MCLA family.

 

HOW IT WENT DOWN

  • Bridgewater State finished the game with a balanced attack that included four goals in both the first and second halves. The Bears' goals were scored by Emily McCormack (12th minute, unassisted, and 50th minute, assisted by Jenna Sweeney) Sydney Dewhurst (15th minute, assisted by Nina DiRusso, 18th minute, assisted by McCormack, 52nd minute, assisted by Lauren Sellmayer, and 58th minute, assisted by Sellmayer), Skylar Conrad (25th minute, unassisted), and Anna Rice (65th minute, assisted by Sarah Duran).
  • With the BSU sporting a 60-5 advantage on shots, including a 29-3 edge in shots on goal, the Trailblazers' keepers were kept busy. First-year goalkeeper Destiny Alexandra Rivas started the game and made seven saves but fell to 2-5-0 on the year. Fellow first-year keeper Mallory Amirian played the second half, collecting 13 saves. Logan Levesque stopped all three shots she faced on goal to improve to 8-4-3.
