Zup's Diving Header Lifts Women's Soccer Over Fitchburg State

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - A diving header by sophomore Jenna Zup (Berlin, Conn.) with 43 seconds left to play lifted the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team to a dramatic, 3-2, victory over the Fitchburg State University (FSU) Falcons Saturday afternoon in USJ's 2022 home opener on the USJ Soccer Field in West Hartford.

QUOTABLE

"The hope was to do that a little earlier rather than wait until the last minute of the game, but that right there is just the heart of this team. In the last minute, they put everything on the line and the team first. Zup's commitment to the run and sacrificing her body on the diving header is a great example of that. Maxine also did a great job getting a beautiful cross off to find her which further exemplifies how this team really works for the players next to them at all times. Overall, it was a really nice back and forth match. [Fitchburg] battled and it was a really physical game which is good for us to see and nice to walk away with the win," said head coach Jenna Kalwa.
