Softball Drops Double-Header to Massachusetts Maritime

Myrtle Beach, SC - The SUNY Delhi softball team was back in action after a day off for a doubleheader against Massachusetts Maritime.

Delhi would start fast in game one, taking an early 3-0 lead after the first inning of play. Senior Danielle Seymour would stay hot, driving in the first run of the day with a single to right center. Junior Riley Martin would follow with a single of her own, plating two runs. The Buccaneers would inch closer in the third inning, tallying two runs and cutting the deficit to one. Massachusetts Maritime would break the game open with a six-run fourth inning and never looked back, adding five more total runs. The Broncos would add two runs in the final frame before ultimately falling by a score of 13-6.

In game two, Delhi would strike first once again in the top of the frame with an RBI from sophomore Hannah Caughey. Massachusetts Maritime would continue to prove to have an answer, regaining the lead in the bottom half by tallying four runs. The Broncos would cut the deficit to just two runs in the top of the third, until the Buccaneers would explode for eight runs in the next two innings to secure a commanding 12-3 victory.

The Broncos fall to 4-2 on the year and will be back at it again tomorrow as they wrap up their southern trip with games against Wilson College and St. Elizabeth University.
