Salem, MA- The Lynx split with the Vikings of Salem State to pick up their second win of the year. 

 

Inside Game 1:

  • The Vikings jumped out to an early lead, scoring in the first on a Walker single. 
  • The Vikings then added to their lead in the third on an Eisnor single to drive in 2, making the score 3-0. 
  • Mahlia Medina drove in the first and only run of the game for the Lynx in the fourth with a double to drive in Tara Eldredge to make the score 3-1. 
  • The Vikings tacked on 3 more over next 3 innings to secure the game with a final score of 6-1. 
  • Samantha Mecklenburg pitched a complete game from the circle despite taking the loss, with 5 strikeouts over 6 innings. 

 

Inside Game 2:

  • The Lynx bounced back quickly in game 2, taking an early lead on a Holly Swinamer single to plate Emma Hodgkins.
  • Mia Santilli helped add on to the early lead with a single to drive in Jess O'Neill to make the lead 2-0. 
  • The Lynx continued to add to the lead in the third, when O'Neill drove in Hogdkins on a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-0. 
  • Swinamer then followed up by driving a single to center field to score Antonia Kieran to make it 4-0. 
  • O'Neill then drove in Kieran on an error in the fifth to extend their lead to 5. 
  • The lone run scored by the Vikings came on a Rodriguez double to drive in Walker. 
  • Emma Hodgkins got the win for the Lynx in the circle, pitching a complete game while striking out 8 in the process. 

 

Lynx Highlights:

  • Both Samantha Mecklenburg and Emma Hodgkins lead the way in the cicle, only allowing 4 earned runs while striking out 13 over 13 innings of work as both recorded a complete game. 
  • Antonia Kieran went 3-8 on the day with a double and scored twice. 
  • Holly Swinamer drove in 2 on the way to a 3-7 day at the plate. 
  • Catcher Mia Santilli went 2-7 on the day with a double and RBI. 
  • Jess O'Neill reached base 3 of her 7 plate appearances, driving in 2 runs and scoring once.
