Women's Volleyball: Falcons fly past Mass Maritime

BUZZARDS BAY, MASS. - The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team won the contest this evening over Mass. Maritime, 3-0 at Clean Harbors Center. The victory sends the Falcons to 22-7 for an overall record. Mass. Maritime slides to 3-15.

Senior Macy Barnes (Duarte, Calif.) led the offensive effort for the Falcons with 10 kills and 20 digs. Classmate Ashly Velazquez (Downey, Calif.) gave 8 kills, 4 service ace points and 7 digs in the win. On the defensive end, sophomore Edsyl Irizarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) contributed 3 assists and 23 digs while sophomore Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) also chipped in with 29 assists and 7 digs for Fisher.

Mass. Maritime was paced by freshman Shayla Narodowg (Wellington, CO) with 4 kills. Following her is sophomore Marlo Stark (Groton, CT) with 3 kills. Freshman Keira Whalen (Philadelphia, PA) contributed 7 assists and 13 digs while senior Isabelle Miazga (Rocky Hill, CT) had 19 digs in the loss for the Buccaneers.

Both teams will be back in action when they return to the court later this week. Fisher will be traveling to Weston, Mass. to face Regis College on Thursday with a 6pm start. Mass. Maritime will play the final game of their season on Saturday against Westfield State at noon.
