Women's Basketball Battles Past Salem State, 60-46

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team defeated Salem State, 60-46, on Thursday night in non-conference action, at MacDonald Gymnasium. 

Trailing by six, (12-6) in the first quarter the Gulls went on a 31-6 run over a span of 14 minutes to give themselves a 37-18 lead heading into the halftime break. Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) paced the Gulls on the run with 11 points. 

The Vikings then responded out of the break, with a 19-4 run over 12 minutes to get themselves within four (41-37). 

The Gulls, however, would not be denied as over the final eight minutes they outscored Salem State, 19-9, to secure their tenth win of the season. 

Pratt led the Gulls with a 17 point 10 rebound double-double, while Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.) and Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) each had 12 points, and Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) notched 11 points. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Pratt also had a game-high six assists to add to her double-double.
  • This was Pratt's fourth double-double of the season. 
  • Tonight was Laugeni's second double-figure game of the season. 
  • Putnam has scored in double-figures in nine straight games. 
  • Endicott has now won five out of their last six games. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (10-9) will travel to crosstown rival Gordon College on Saturday, February 1 at 1 PM. Salem State (4-14) hosts Fitchburg State on Saturday, February 1 at 12 PM.
