A total of 373 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s Winter 2015 All-Academic Team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.

Westfield State University sophomore Jill Valley hit a dramatic lay-up with 4.7 seconds left in regulation to give the top-seeded Owls their first lead of the second half and escape with a 62-61 victory over Keene State College in the semifinals of the ECAC Division III New England Women's Basketball tournament.

Westfield State Retains Lead in 2014-15 Howard C. Smith Cup Standings
With the winter regular season wrapped up, Westfield State has retained their lead in the Howard C. Smith Cup standings. The Smith Cup is awarded annually to the member institution which compiles the most points based on the placement of each of its programs competing in the 15 league championship sports.

Westfield State senior guard Jen Ashton roared to life in the second half, scoring 14 of her game high 18 points in the second half as top seeded Westfield State held off eighth-seed Western New England in the quarterfinals of the ECAC New England Division III women's basketball tournament.
