MASCAC Football Weekly Report 9/15
For the second straight week, Stephen Gacioch of UMass Dartmouth earns MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week. Joining him are the Mass. Maritime duo of Jack Fontana and George Lampros and Cam Kergo of Worcester State as Defensive, Special Teams and Rookie of the Week honorees brought to you by GEICO.

Offensive Player of the Week |
Gacioch completed 26-of-42 passes for a career-high 512 yards and five touchdowns, including the game-winning 23-yard connection in overtime, in the Corsairs’ 48-41 victory over Husson University. Accounted for all but 41 yards of team’s 580 yards of total offense (512 passing, 27 rushing) and added additional touchdown passes of 10, 48, 66 and 59 yards in helping the team to their first 2-0 start in 16 years.

Defensive Player of the Week |
Fontana racked up a game-high 16 tackles, including nine solo in the Buccaneers’ 31-14 season-opening win against SUNY-Maritime in the Chowder Bowl. Added 1.5 sacks for nine yards and three tackles for loss of 12 yards and a huge drive stopping pass break up. |
Special Teams Player of the Week |
Lampros converted all four extra point attempts and connected on his lone field goal from 23 yards out in the Buccaneers’ 31-14 win over SUNY-Maritime. Also punted the ball twice for 76 yards with a long of 41 yards, pinning the Privateers inside their own 20 both times. |
Rookie of the Week |
Kergo had a strong home debut for the Lancers with five catches for 46 yards and a 12-yard touchdown catch in the 12-10 setback to Becker College. |
