Framingham State's O'Day, Salem State's Animashaun Named D3hoops.com All-Region Honorees

Mary Kate O'Day of Framingham State and Hakeem Animashaun of Salem State have earned D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region honors as announced by the organization.
O'Day earned a spot on the second team while Animashaun was named to the D3hoops.com third team and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Northeast District Second Team. Both were named the MASCAC Player of the Year and to the All-Conference Team of their respective sports last month.
Animashaun, a senior from Dedham, Mass., closed out the year atop the conference in several categories, including total points (631), points per game (23.4), total rebounds (338), offensive rebounds (118), defensive rebounds (220), rebounds per game (12.5) and blocks (70). He also was second in field goal percentage (60.1) while adding 34 assists and 25 steals. His best game of the year was against Clark University where he tallied a double-double of 41 points and 20 rebounds while shooting 72 percent (13-18) from the floor. Animashaun, who topped 1,000 career points earlier this year, was second in the nation in double-doubles with 22. His 631 points and 70 blocks were fourth most in a season at Salem State while his 338 rebounds rank seventh all-time for a season.
O’Day, a senior from Berlin, Mass., led the Rams to a perfect 12-0 record and the school’s first outright MASCAC regular season title for the top seed in the tournament. O’Day finished the regular season in the top five of the conference in several categories, including points per game (18.4), total points (496), rebounds per game (8.6), total rebounds (232) free throw percentage (83.3), three point percentage (41.2) and field goal percentage (45.9) and assists (85). Her best game of the year came in the 101-91 win over Westfield State where she netted a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds along with five assists while shooting 53 percent (10-19) from the field.
O'Day was named the MASCAC Player of the Year for the 2nd time in her career as well as 1st Team All-MASCAC for the third straight season after leading her team to a 22-6 record and the 2019-20 MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
