Lamprey sets single season saves record in conference setback 

Keene, N.H. – The Fitchburg State University field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to the Owls of Keene State College this evening in Little East Conference (LEC) action at the Owl Athletic Complex.

How It Happened

Keene State took a 1-0 lead 6:02 into the first stanza on senior Kelsey Roberts (Greenfield, Mass.) ninth tally of the season before the Owls doubled their margin (2-0) in the 21st minute of play as Roberts netted her second tally of the contest off an assist from junior Nina Bruno (Agawam, Mass.).

Following the intermission, the Keene State upped its advantage at the 36:26 mark when junior Kayla Klein (West Brookfield, Mass.) found the back of the net for her team-leading 14th marker on the year.

The hosts capped the scoring in the 54th minute of play with senior Erica Chareth (Amherst, N.H.) collected a feed from Bruno and notched her third score of the 2019 campaign, resulting in the 5-0 final.

This evening's contest marked the 34th meeting between the two squads in the sport of field hockey with the Falcons 6-28 all time when taking on the Owls

Keene State has won the last 16 contests against Fitchburg State, including a 3-0 decision last season at the Owl Athletic Complex

Keene State held a 24-0 edge in shots, while also finishing with a 13-1 margin in penalty corners

Freshman Colleen Lamprey (Cherry Valley, Mass.) made 12 saves for the Falcons in the setback

Junior Rachel Loseby (Hartford, Vt.) went untested for Keene State in the victory

With her 12 saves this evening, Lamprey set a new program record for most saves in a single season with 179 saves, eclipsing the previous mark of 174 set by Kathy O'Rouke in 1988
