Field Hockey Defeats Salem State, 5-1

SALEM, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team defeated Salem State, 5-1, on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field. 

Meaghan Hogan (Cheshire, Conn.) started the action off in the first period (8:48) when Jenna Seibold (Reading, Mass.) fed her for the first score of the contest.

Following the first goal, Siebold struck for a score of her own at the 18:45 mark to extend Endicott's lead 2-0. Just before the half came to a close, Hogan reversed roles and assisted Olivia Lampasona (Watertown, Mass.) for the Blue and Green's third tally of the game (29:15). 

Salem State was able to secure a spot on the scoreboard when Alexa Hamilton (Burlington, Mass.) netted the first goal of her collegiate career at 54:10 off an assist by Mikayla Mason (Beverly, Mass.).

From there, Lamaspona and Hogan gained two more scores for Endicott at the 57:59 and 59:33 time stamps to seal the deal over Salem State.

Defensively for the Gulls, Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) gathered two saves during her sixty minutes of action (3-3). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Endicott leads the all-time series against Salem State, 13-3.
  • This is the first time Endicott held a 3-0 lead heading into the half since they were in the NCAA Tournament (11/13/19, vs. Wilson).
  • The Gulls have not had five or more goals on the road since 10/10/19 against Mount Holyoke. 
  • Endicott had a season-high 17 penalty corners in the matchup.
  • Seibold leads the team with four goals this year.
  • Hogan had the first multiple score game of her career against the Vikings. 

WHAT'S NEXT

The Gulls (3-3) will find themselves as visitors for the third time in a row, this time in their first Commonwealth Coast Conference game of the season against Salve Regina (5-1) on Saturday, September 25. Salem State (3-3) will stay at home when they welcome Framingham State (2-2) on Saturday, September 25 at 11 AM.
