WBB: Wildcats Beaten by Bridgewater State on Day Two of the Smith College Holiday Invitational.

NORTHHAMPTON, Mass. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team lost to the Bridgewater State Bears on Saturday afternoon 73-63 in their second game of the Smith College Holiday Invitational. The Wildcats went 0-2 at the invitational. Molly Burdick was named to the All-Tournament Team after recording 32 points and 29 rebounds for the Wildcats in their two games. The Wildcats are now 4-6 this season.  

 

The Wildcats went down by 11 points in the first half but came roaring back in the third to tie the game up at 51 after outscoring Bridgewater 24-13 in the quarter. In the fourth, the Wildcats went cold late and fell behind, ultimately losing their lead and going behind by 10 in the closing minutes of the game. The Bears scored 10 points from the charity stripe in the fourth and forced seven turnovers by the Wildcats to earn the win.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Molly Burdick had a game-high 22 points. She scored 12 points from the free-throw line. She also had a game-high 18 rebounds and three assists. The double-double was her seventh of the season and fourth straight.
  • Lyrik Jackson had 17 points, five rebounds, three steals, and an assist.
  • Sydney Bradbury had a team-high 13 points for the Bears. She also had five rebounds and three assists.
  • Arielle Cleveland and Kylee Piche each scored 11 points for Bridgewater. Cleveland had four rebounds and three assists. Piche had six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

The Wildcats will travel to Clarkson on Tuesday, January 3rd. to take on the Golden Knights. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM tip-off.
