Westfield Sate runs win streak to eight with 65-51 victory over Western New England

WESTFIELD, Mass.
- Senior center Casey Jouannet (Conway, MA) compiled game highs of 21 points and nine rebounds as the Westfield State women's basketball team ran its winning streak to eight games with a 65-51 victory over visiting Western New England Thursday evening (Feb. 10) at the Woodward Center.

Sophomore guard Briana Kelly (Hampden, MA) added 17 points and senior forward Ashley Finnegan (Worcester, MA) had 11 points as the Owls improved their record to 17-5.

Westfield State jumped to an 11-0 lead to start the game and went into halftime with a comfortable 36-18 advantage.

The teams traded baskets for the first six minutes of the second before before the hosts put the game away with an 11-2 for a commanding 57-29 margin with 11:18 left in the contest.

Junior forward Sarah Proper (Coxsackie, NY) was the only Golden Bears' player in double figures with 13 points (5-for-7 from the floor) coming off the bench. Freshman guards Ali Pessolano (Hampden, MA) and Kelsey Daniels (South Windsor, CT) each contributed seven points.

Western New England falls to 12-10.
