Men's Basketball beaten by WNE in Golden Bear Invitational

Springfield, MA- Western New England's Mike Maguire scored a game high 22 points as he led the Golden Bears to a convincing 91-63 win over the MCLA Trailblazers in the opening round of the Golden Bear Invitational.  WNE is now 2-1 on the season.  The Trailblazers drop to 1-2.  

MCLA will face Medgar Evers in the consolation game tomorrow at 1pm.  The Golden Bears will battle Pine Manor in the 3pm finale.

WNE never trailed in this one as they took control early jumping out to a 12-2 lead and never looking back.  MCLA would keep it close for awhile in the opening half, but eventually fell behind 41-25 at the half.

The hosts would turn it on in the second half and quickly pushed the lead to twenty.  It would grow to as many as 31 in the second half as the Trailblazers simply couldn't keep pace.

Maguire was 8-12 shooting and dished out three assists on the night.  Zachary Tavitian added a double double of 19 points and 11 rebounds.  Alex Sikorski chipped in with 17 points.

WNE shot 54% from the field in the win.  

Noah Yearsley led MCLA with 9 points.  MCLA was hampered by 20 turnovers and 34% shooting in the loss.
