Field Hockey Closes Season with OT Win at UMass Dartmouth

Dartmouth, Mass.- Freshman Mallory Weir (Bear, Del.) netted a pair of tallies, including the golden goal 8:09 into overtime, to lead Framingham State to a 3-2 Little East Conference field hockey victory over UMass Dartmouth Friday afternoon at Cressy Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The visiting Rams overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit when Weir evened matters with 4:18 remaining in the third quarter on a feed from sophomore Jordyn O'Boyle (Bradford, Mass.).  
• Framingham State grabbed a 2-1 lead 5:07 into the fourth frame when junior Maddy Pimental (Dartmouth, Mass.) deflected in a Weir pass from the left side of the cage, but the host Corsairs forced the extra session with 3:51 remaining in regulation after sophomore Kylie Dias (Fall River, Mass.) converted a breakaway feed from fellow sophomore Lydia Stormwind (Littleton, Mass.) for that combination's second score of the afternoon.
• Each team had chances early in the overtime period but were denied on breakaways, and a defensive save by Rams' sophomore Sacha Bonilla-Mena (Littleton, Mass.) kept the contest deadlocked until Weir took a deflection in front of the cage to net Framingham State's game-winner.   
• Sophomore Grace Pushor (Old Town, Maine) picked up her fifth victory of the season with a six-save effort in goal for the Rams, while junior Katelyn Banalewicz (Fall River, Mass.) made eight stops in the setback for UMass Dartmouth.  
• Dias scored her first goal of the day on a give-and-go with Stormwind 6:14 into the second quarter for the Corsairs, who will be either the seventh or eighth seed in next week's Little East Championships that begin with quarterfinal round play Tuesday.
• Framingham State held a 16-13 overall advantage in shots (11-9 on goal) for the contest, as the Rams also held a 5-3 edge in penalty corners in claiming just their sixth win in 30 series meetings between the two schools.
