Lamprey makes eight saves for Fitchburg State in conference setback

Castleton, Vt. – The Fitchburg State University field hockey team suffered a tough 4-0 setback to the Spartans of Castleton University this evening in Little East Conference (LEC) action from the Dave Walk Stadium.

How It Happened

Castleton took the lead 2:04 into the first period as junior Gabriella Hunt (Granville, N.Y.) netted her team-leading 17th tally on the season for the 1-0 advantage. The Spartans doubled their margin (2-0) in the 19th minute of action with senior Olivia Trevisani (Colchester, Vt.) gathering a feed from classmate Cydney Jeffrey (Manchester, Vt.) and burying a shot inside the near post for her fifth goal of the year.

The hosts upped their advantage at the 20:18 mark with junior Allison Lowell (Brandon, Vt.) finding the back of the cage for her ninth score of the 2019 campaign to make the score 3-0, going into the break.

Following the intermission, Castleton capped the scoring in the 49th minute of action as Hunt notched her second goal of the contest, resulting in the 4-0 final.

This evening's contest marked the fourth meeting between the two squads in the sport of field hockey with the Falcons 1-3 all time when taking on the Spartans
