LEESBURG, Fla. (csssaints.com) – After getting an additional game added onto the day, the St. Scholastica softball team ended up going 2-1 for the day. The Saints won the first game against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 13-3 and won their second game 8-5 against Salem State University (Mass.). The Saints lost their final game of the day though against Babson College (Mass.) 8-4.

CSS 13, MCLA 3
The Saints started the first inning with Kari Breuer (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) scoring off an RBI groundout from Emma Bolin (Litchfield Park, Ariz./Millennium HS). MCLA (0-8) came back in the first inning and tied it up, and following that took the lead 3-1 in the second inning. The next several innings were rather quick and scoreless on both sides until the top of the sixth when CSS came back and regained a lead 4-3.

The Saints were able to not only shutout MCLA in the sixth and seventh innings, but also scored another nine runs in the top of the seventh to win by a final score of 13-3.

At the plate six Saints recorded a pair of hits who all had two hits. Grace Hadlich (Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) drove in three runs. Emma Sather (Chetek, Wis./Chetek-Weyerhaeuser HS) had a pair of hits at the plate and also earned the victory in the pitcher's circle, pitching 5.2 innings of scoreless relief.

CSS 8, Salem State 5
CSS was having to make a comeback right away after the top of the first as Salem State (0-5) scored two runs to start the game. The Saints were quick to come back though and tied it up that same inning. It was in the bottom of the second inning when CSS was able to take the lead 3-2 off an error made by the defense scoring Breuer.

The Saints were in a tie game until the bottom of the fourth when they were able to take a 6-3 lead off one swing of the bat from Samantha Paniagua (Corona, Calif./Centennial HS), who hit a three-run home run.

Although CSS was able to score two more runs before the end of the game, Salem State was also able to put up some more runs on the board before the game had finished, but not enough to surpass St. Scholastica and the Saints were able to take their second win of the day.

At the plate, Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and Bolin both had two hits for the Saints. Haley Rosenthal (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) went the distance striking out four and allowing only two earned runs in the win.

Babson 8, CSS 4
The third and final game of the day also didn't begin in favor of the Saints as they got down by two runs again, but just like the previous game CSS came back and tied it up in the bottom of the first. Just like the second game, St. Scholastica took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second.

The Saints lost their lead in the top of the fourth, but were only down 4-3. They were able to tie it up again at the bottom of the inning. The fourth and final run for the Saints in the game was scored by Mady Peterson (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) off a single to right field by Breuer. Unfortunately, CSS was unable to hold Babson (10-4) as the Beavers scored at least one run in each of the final four innings to win 8-4.

At the plate, Howe went 2-for-4 as no other Saint had more than one hit.

Up Next
The Saints (8-4) will have their final day of games at The Spring Games tomorrow (Friday) at 10:15 a.m. (ET) against Loras College (Iowa) and at 12:30 p.m. (ET) against SUNY-Fredonia.
