NEW BEDFORD, Mass. – Junior forward Dillon Radin (Long Beach, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Josh Vertenes (Rehoboth, Mass.) each registered two goals and an assist to power UMass Dartmouth to a 7-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victory over visiting Salem State University this evening at Hetland Arena.

The Corsairs (2-3, 2-1 MASCAC) used a balanced scoring attack as six players registered multiple points.  Senior defender Steven Leonard (Rockaway Park, N.J.) tallied a season-high three points, on a goal and two helpers, while freshman Austin Miller (Meridian, Idaho) dished out three assists.  Freshman forward Michael Perrone (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) produced the game-winning goal and a helper and senior Sean Leonard (Rockaway, N.J.) posted two assists.

UMass Dartmouth cracked the scoring halfway through the opening period, when Perrone potted his third goal of the season.  The Corsairs doubled their advantage at the 16:51 mark as senior forward Cameron Mack (Long Beach, Calif.) netted a short-handed goal, and Vertenes sent the hosts into the locker room with a 3-0 lead.

UMass Dartmouth maintained the momentum early in the second stanza when Radin converted a feed from Miller Sean Leonard.  Salem State nearly stemmed the tide late in the second period when freshman forward Chris Woolley (Paghquag, N.Y.) hit the near post. The Corsairs sandwiched a pair of power-play goals between Vertenes' third goal of the season to round out the scoring in the final frame

Sophomore Chris Stangarone (White Plains, N.Y.) stopped 25 shots to earn his first shutout of the season, while senior netminder Sean Cleary (Barnstable, Mass.) turned aside 27 of the 33 attempts he faced in a losing effort.  Sophomore Joona Sato-Hunsula (Turku, Finland) came off the bench to record one save over the final 10 minutes, 10 seconds.
