Softball Completes Sweep On Day Two In Florida

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Endicott softball team swept a pair of games against Ohio Northern (4-3, 10 inn.) and Framingham State (2-1) on Monday evening at DiamondPlex.

GAME ONE: Endicott 4, Ohio Northern 3 (10 inn.)

WP (1-1): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) – 5 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
LP (0-2): Allie Bican (Solon, Ohio) – 10 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

Tied 1-1 in the top of the 10th inning, Christina Nowicki (Chelsea, Mass.) delivered in the clutch with a two-run single to right center to give the Gulls a 3-1 advantage.

Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) tacked on an all-important insurance run on at-bat later with an RBI single to center that proved to be the difference in the contest.

Ohio Northern made things interesting in the bottom of the 10th scoring two runs off two miscues, but Couto secured the win via a line out to short with runners at second and third base.

Meanwhile, Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) was phenomenal in her first collegiate start behind five innings, three hits, one run (unearned), two walks, and one strikeout.

GAME TWO: Endicott 2, Framingham State 1

WP (2-0): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) – 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
LP (0-1): Rylynn Witek (Adams, Mass.) – 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 0 K

Trailing 1-0 after four complete, Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield, Mass.) belted a solo homer to center field in the fifth inning to even the score at one-all.

Lindsay Joubert (Haverhill, Mass.) gave Endicott the lead for good moments later in the frame with an RBI ground out to second base plating Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) from third.

Misiaszek singled after Shapleigh's fifth career homer, while Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.) walked and Julianna Roche (North Andover, Mass.) laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to set up the game-winning run.
