Corsairs Skate Through Ice Hockey

Framingham, Mass.- The UMass Dartmouth ice hockey team defeated Framingham State by a score of 4-1 in MASCAC action Thursday evening at Loring Arena.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Rams got on the board first a little over halfway through the first period when Matt Paiotti finished a pass from Soren Colstrup to take the early lead.
  • The Corsairs answered just over sixty seconds later when Ryan Mascali scored his first career goal off helpers from Pat Twombly and Dillon Radin.
  • The visitors took the lead with just over five minutes remaining when Jimmy Pelton found the back of the net after a pass from Derek Britner. The Corsairs tallied again in the final minute when Kai Kapossy sneaked one in to send the two teams into the break with UMD leading 3-1.
  • UMD tallied early in the second when Cameron Mack scored off a pass from Eric Bolden. After a scoreless remainder of the 2nd the two teams skated to a scoreless third to reach the final margin.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Daniel Davidson turned aside 35 shots in the winning effort for the Corsairs. Greg Harney collected 17 saves for the Rams before being relieved by Blake Carlson who turned away 29 shot for the Rams.
  • UMass Dartmouth outshot Framingham 50-to-36 in the contest.
  • The visitors were 0-for-1 on the power play while the Rams were 0-of-3 on the man advantage.

The Corsairs return to the ice on Saturday when they travel to Worcester State for MASCAC action at 7:10pm. The Rams will head to Plymouth State for a MASCAC tilt also on Saturday at 6pm.
