NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 24, 2012 –The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team avenged an earlier season loss to Framingham by defeating the Rams 69-65 in nonconference action on Tuesday evening at the Hogan Sports Center.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 10-6 on the season, while Framingham drops to 7-12. 

Senior Will Bardaglio (Wayne, Maine) led five Chargers in double figures with 16 points. Freshman Koang Thok (Portland, Maine) added 12 points and a game best three blocks. Freshman Mike Dias (Carver, Mass.) recorded his third double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Stephen Thorpe (Chicago, Ill.) poured in a career-high 11 points and went 9-11 from the free throw line. Freshman Kyle Nelson (Milford, N.H.) also reached double figures with 10 points on 4-5 shooting.

Framingham's sophomore Tyrone Figueroa (Revere, Mass.) led all players with 26 points and was the lone Ram to reach double figures. He shot 9-17 from the floor and added five assists. Junior Rico DePaolis (Watertown, Mass.) and sophomore Yemi Ajao (Randolph, Mass.) each added nine points. Sophomore Jamie Henderson (Duncanville, Texas) grabbed 10 rebounds.

The visitors held an early lead over the first three minutes of the game before Colby-Sawyer struck for an 18-4 run. As both teams struggled to find the shooting touch and committed several turnovers, the Rams found themselves slowly chipping away at the deficit. Trailing 24-12, Framingham scored nine unanswered points over the next four minutes to cut the Colby-Sawyer lead to 24-23. A few layup exchanges at each end saw the first half end 30-27 in favor of the home team.

Trying to put the poor first half shooting behind them, each team was more selective on offense. Colby-Sawyer shot 50% from the floor and 53.8% from beyond the arc in the frame, while Framingham post 44.4% from the floor and was 4-6 from three-point land. Although the Chargers were able to hold the lead in the second, the spread reached a pinnacle of just eight. Framingham trailed 65-63 with under a minute to play but committed a foul and the bench received a technical. Colby-Sawyer made all four free throws to ice the game 69-65.

Framingham controlled the boards by a 44-34 margin and held a 15-5 edge in second chance points.

Colby-Sawyer returns to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Thursday with a 7:30 pm tilt at Lyndon. Framingham travels to Worcester State on Saturday for a 5:30 pm Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
