Men’s Basketball Handles Salem State, 77-63

SALEM, Mass. — The Endicott College men's basketball team defeated Salem State, 77-63, in non-conference action on Thursday evening at Twohig Gymnasium.

Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) led all scorers with 18 points (8-17 FG) to go along with five assists and five rebounds. 

Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with 15 points (7-13 FG), seven boards, six assists, and four rejections while, Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.) chipped in with 12 points and five dimes. 

Parker McLaren (Newburyport, Mass.) rounded out the list of individual highlights with a double-double via 10 points and 11 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

Tied 37-37 at halftime, Endicott seized all momentum in the second stanza following an 11-2 run to give the Gulls their largest lead of the game, 77-53 (22 points), with 7:59 left in the matchup.

The run featured back-to-back layups from Max Grenert (Beverly, Mass.), a three-pointer and a one-handed breakaway dunk by Hill, and a two-handed slam by Barrett.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott holds the all-time edge against Salem State, 9-6. 
  • Grenert & Cam Keliher (South Hampton N.H.) tallied their first collegiate baskets in tonight's contest.
  • The Gulls dominated inside the paint outscoring the Vikings, 46-30.
  • The game saw six ties and five lead changes.

Endicott (6-2, 3-0 CCC) travels to Hartford, Conn. to participate in the Trinity Tournament on December 30 & 31. Salem State (3-8) hosts WPI Saturday, December 10 at 12:00 PM.
