Fitchburg State Downs Men’s Basketball in MASCAC Play
Framingham, Mass.- The Fitchburg State men's basketball team defeated Framingham State by a score of 72-56 in MASCAC action Wednesday evening in Framingham.
THE BASICS:
- Score: Fitchburg State 72, Framingham State 56
- Records: Fitchburg State (8-11, 2-4 MASCAC), Framingham State (1-18, 0-6 MASCAC)
- Location: Athletic Center - Framingham, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a slow start offensively on both sides the Rams jumped out to a 7-0 lead capped by a John Kalton trey about five minutes in. The Falcons chipped away for the middle portion of the first half before breaking off a 13-0 run and heading into the locker room with a 34-22 lead.
- The Rams looked to start to mount a comeback midway through the 2nd when Cameren McCloud-Thomas hit a layup to cut the deficit to 10 points but the Falcons answered with eight straight points to put the game to rest.
- The Falcons received 13 points and ten boards from Xavier Betancourt while Devon Johnson, Toskany Abreu & Tayjaun McKenzie all added 12 points. Johnson pitched in a team-best four assists and Jordan Jones added eight points and three rejections.
- The Rams were paced by a game-best 16 points from McCloud-Thomas who added two blocks to his stat sheet.
- The Rams shot 40% from the floor and 33% from downtown. The Falcons were 42% from the field and a solid 61% from long range.
