Football Defeated 14-0 by Brockport

Brockport, N.Y. - The Framingham State University football team surrendered a pair of interception returns for touchdowns as the Rams were defeated 14-0 by Brockport this afternoon in non-conference action at Bob Boozer Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The two teams played to a 0-0 draw after the first two quarters as the Rams received a pair of interceptions from freshman Issac Nascimento (Wareham, Mass.) and junior R.J. Fialli (Everett, Mass.), sophomore Cully Curran (Arlington, Mass.) blocked a field goal attempt by the Golden Eagles and the Rams defense came up with a huge stop on fourth goal inside the one. 
• Combined the two teams punted eight times in the first half.
• Brockport got on the board in the third quarter when Raylens Boutin picked off a pass on the Rams 11-yard line and scampered into the end zone and Dustin Moyle convert the kick for the 7-0 lead.
• The Rams fumbled on the ensuing kickoff setting up a 28-yard field goal attempt by Brockport, but the kick went wide left leaving the score 7-0 with 5:33 on the clock in the third.
• On the Rams next drive, Boutin recorded his second interception return for a touchdown of the game picking a pass at the Brockport 42-yard line and going 58 yards for the score. 
• The Rams punted and turned the ball over on downs on their final two possessions of the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Curran paced the Rams defense with a team-best 11 tackles, including seven solo, with a pass break up and a blocked kick.
• Junior Anthony Behonick (Rutland, Mass.) added nine tackles, while Nascimento and Fialli recorded eight tackles apiece and each had a pick in the game.
• Senior Adam Wojenski (Stratford, Conn.) finished the game completing 23 of 50 pass attempts for 170 yards and was intercepted three times. Wojenski also rushed for 65 yards on six carries.
• Sophomore Austin Nunn (Bellingham, Mass.) made six catches for 67 yards, while senior Jacob Maher (Marshfield, Mass.) caught five balls for 28 yards.
• The Rams and the Gold Eagles met for the first time a year ago in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Football Championship Tournament.
