BAYAMON, P.R. -- The Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team posted a 10-7 victory over Susquehanna University on Wednesday at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

The Bears improve to 2-3 on the season, while the River Hawks fall to 3-3.

Senior attack Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) notched three goals and two assists to go along with a game-high 13 draw controls to lead Bridgewater State. Senior attack Hayley White (Dracut, Mass.) and sophomore attack Katherine Tracy (Marion, Mass.) added two goals apiece for the Bears, while junior midfielder Emily Hiller (Marion, Mass.) notched a goal and an assist.

Bridgewater State erased a 5-2 halftime deficit as the Bears tallied the first four goals of the second half to take a 6-5 lead. White, Tracy, McDonough and junior midfielder Kelsi Brennan (Dedham, Mass.) each found the back of the net during the 4-0 run.

Back-to-back strikes from senior defender Mel Barracato (Flanders, N.J.) and junior midfielder Tori Lombardi (Parsippany, N.J.) put the River Hawks back on top with 11:54 remaining in the contest. Lombardi's goal came off the free position.

Less than two minutes later, Hiller scored on the player advantage, with McDonough picking up the assist, to knot the score at 7-7.

The score remained that way until the 3:53 mark when sophomore attack Jacqueline DeLorey (Westwood, Mass.) potted an unassisted tally to give the Bears an 8-7 lead. McDonough and Tracy added a pair of insurance markers in the last two minutes to put the finishing touches on the win.

Bridgewater State finished with a 37-27 shot advantage for the game as well as a decided 17-2 edge in draw controls. The Bears went 18-for-19 in clear attempts, while the River Hawks converted 24 of 30 clears.

Senior goalkeeper Hayley Barner (Westwood, Mass.) turned aside 11 shots to record her second win of the season between the pipes for the Bears.

Senior netminder Libby Dex (Coopersburg, Pa.) made 16 saves in the setback for Susquehanna.

Senior attack Gabbi Toohey (Oradell, N.J.) paced the River Hawk offense with three goals, while classmate Stephanie Dowling (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) dished out a pair of assists.

Notes: McDonough leaped over Taylor Clancy (2011-14) and BSU Hall of Famer Shannon Manning (2007-10) into second place on the Bears' all-time draw controls list as she now has 239 in her career….Barner moved into fourth place among the Bears' all-time goaltending leaders with her 395th career save. She passed Lauren Mazzola who recorded 394 saves from 2003 to 2005.
