Lamprey stops 13 shots for Fitchburg State in non-conference setback 

Springfield, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University field hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Pride of Springfield College this evening in non-conference action from the Stagg Field.

How It Happened

Following a scoreless first period, Springfield College took a 1-0 margin at the 26:19 mark when senior forward Taylor Conley (Yarmouth, Mass.) gathered a feed from newcomer Grace Levansavich (Auburn, Mass.) and junior Morgan Bronk (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and connected on her second tally on the season for the 1-0 margin going into the break.

Following the intermission, the Pride doubled their lead (2-0) in the 35th minute of play as junior Kirsten Oliver (Vernon, Center, N.Y.) struck for her third goal of the 2019 season. The hosts upped their lead roughly eight minutes later with freshman Lily Depew (Acton, Mass.) notching an unassisted marker for the 3-0 edge.

Springfield tacked on an insurance goal at the 52:44 mark as Depew netted her second goal of the contest, resulting in the 4-0 final.

This evening's contest will mark the first ever matchup between the two teams in the sport of field hockey
