Men’s Basketball Handles Salem State, 79-62

MEDFORD, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team defeated Salem State, 79-62, on day one of the Big 4 Challenge on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Tufts University at Cousens Gymnasium.

Twelve different Gulls found their way into the scoring column in the win.

Dillon Grant (Dennis, Mass.) paced Endicott with 13 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.

Matt Garry (Southington, Conn.) chipped in with 12 points, while Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) rounded out the list of double-digit scorers with 11.

The Gulls took advantage of turnovers in the game producing a 25-4 differential in the category (SSU - 16 | EC 7).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 8-6 all-time against Salem State.
  • The Gulls have won three in a row versus the Vikings.
  • Today's contest featured three ties and four lead changes.
  • With the matchup tied 27-27 with 6:11 to play in the first half, Endicott closed out the stanza with a 14-5 run and never looked back.
  • Echevarria registered six points, Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) threw down a dunk, and Drew Brown (Pelham, N.H.) splashed a pair of threes to account for the scoring.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (2-0) takes on Tufts tomorrow at 2 PM. Salem State (1-3) gets matched up with Babson at 12 PM.
