Women's Volleyball Falls in Conference Tournament

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The fourth-seeded MCLA women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over fifth seeded Worcester State University in the quarterfinal round of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament Tuesday night at Amsler Campus Center Gym. 

With the win, the Trailblazers (19-10) advance to face the top seeded Westfield State Owls on Thursday night at 7pm in Westfield. Worcester State ends its season at 8-20.

The Lancers took the opening set 25-22 to take an early lead. Worcester almost stole the second set as they tied the score at 25-25, but MCLA would take the final two points to pull out a 27-25 set win.  The Trailblazers would close out the match with a 25-19 win in the pivotal third and 25-21 in the fourth and final set to earn the win.

Leelle Tyler (Longmeadow, Mass.) led the Lancers with 10 kills on the night. Katie Gagnon (Hampden, Mass.) collected 31 assists to pace the offense. Libero Brooke Lamothe (Tewksbury, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with 37 digs for the Lancers.
