Although the MASCAC isn't having fall contests this semester, the conference still wants to recognize the great success of our fall student-athletes. Each week, the MASCAC will honor a champion from the 2019 championship season as MASCAC Players of the Week brought to you by GEICO.

We hit the hardwood for our next round of MASCAC Players of the Week this fall. The 2019 MASCAC Volleyball Regular Season and Tournament Champions from Westfield State are this week's honorees. 

Led by tournament MVP Shawna Crowley, the Owls claimed the volleyball championship with a 3-1 win over Framingham State. Crowley finished the tournament averaging 13.5 kills, 11.5 digs, 1.5 service aces and a block on her way to earning Tournament MVP honors during the MASCAC Tournament. Tallied nine kills, eight digs and two aces in the 3-0 semifinal win over MCLA then added 18 kills, 15 digs, an ace and block assist in the Owls' championship 3-1 win over Framingham State. Earning the MASCAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament, the Owls faced off with Clarkson University in the first round. 

Also earning the regular season title, the team finished a perfect 7-0 while Brianna Starkey, Lizzie Taylor and Ashley Crowley earned MASCAC All-Conference honors and Owls' head coach Fred Glanville was named Champion's Choice Coach of the Year as voted on by his peers.
