WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Julia Warner of Westfield State is the 2013 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year and headlines the All-Conference team as selected by the seven coaches from around the conference.
The Lee, Mass. native was a commanding presence for the Owls this season with 303 kills for an average of 3.19 kills per set and 324 digs, helping Westfield State to their fourth regular season title in the past five years. They finished the season with a perfect 6-0 conference record to earn not only the regular season crown but also a first round bye in the conference tournament this week.
Alycia Rackliffe, after having an outstanding freshman season for Framingham State, has been named the 2013 MASCAC Rookie of the Year. The outside hitter from Feeding Hills, Mass. finished her season with 353 kills, 3.33 kills per set average and a hitting percentage of .338. Westfield State's Fred Glanville nabbed the 2013 MASCAC Champion's Choice Coach of the Year honors for leading his team to another conference regular season title and playoff apperance.
Earning 2013 MASCAC first-team All-Conference honors along with Warner and Rackliffe are Framingham State's Andressa Fernandes and Danielle Girard, Worcester State's Alyssa Jasper, Westfield State's Lindsay Rescott and Bridgewater State's Kristen Robillard.
Nabbing 2013 MASCAC second-team All-Conference awards are Worcester State's Vicki O'Brien and Megan Brown, Salem State's Emily Peay and Mackenzie Carpenter, Brigewater State's Hannah Maymon, Westfield State's Carolyn Cote and MCLA's Julia Christian.
