Westfield State Wins 2024 MASCAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Title
Westfield State wins the 2024 MASCAC Women's Indoor Track and Field title, the school's first since the 2019-20 season. The Owls hosted the meet which was contested at Smith College.

Westfield State finished with 194 to take home the indoor title while Bridgewater State was close behind in second with 169 points. Fitchburg State and Worcester State finished third and fourth with 87 and 61 points, respectively.
The Owls captured the crown after winning four individual titles and two relays. Eliza Lee was a two-time winner with a first place finish in the 600 meter run (1:48.33) and 800 meter run (2:32.76). Joining her as a MASCAC Champion were teammate Julianne Kelly in the 3,000 meter run (11:37.26) and Shea Hamel in the 5,000 meter run (19:08.30).
Lee along with Paige Moroney, Savannah Campbell and Devin Whalen would claim the women's 4x400m relay with a time of 4:25.17 while Brynne LeCours, Ariann LeCours, Tealei Chandonnet and Kerin Johnson of took home the women's 4x800m relay title with a time of 10:53.44.
Bridgewater State claimed 10ti tles on the day. Leading the way was Alison McDonough who earned the MASCAC title in the long jump with a leap of 5.43m and added a victory in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.96 seconds.
Jailene Escalera and Naomi Cass also captured a pair of conference individual championships for the Bears. Escalera won the 60-meter dash with a finals fime of 7.76 second and placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.81 seconds. Cass was the first to cross the finish line in both the mile and 1,000-meter run. She recorded a PR of 5:18.20 in the mile as well as a time of 3:12.52 in the 1,000. Serenity Sands posted a leap of 1.66m to grab the MASCAC crown in the high jump while Kiara Abrantes placed first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.14 seconds.
Tristen Gomes won the conference championship in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, seven inches (11.15m) as she broke her own indoor mark of 10.98m also set last week at Tufts.
The Bears' 4x200-meter relay squad featuring McDonough, Escalera, Abrantes and Juliana Patrone rounded out the winners with the quartet posting a time of 1:47.84.
In her first season with Worcester State, Jadah Stokes came home with two champion medals after finishing first in the shot put (11.48m) and the weight throw (13.90m) for the Lancers.
The MASCAC teams continue their seasons with various meets next weekend then the DIII New England Championships February 23-24 and NEICAAA Championships March 1-2.
