MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Report 3/28
The Bridgewater State duo of Jailene Escalera and Abbi Peterson plus Skye Goba of Fitchburg State take home the first MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field weekly award winners of the 2023 season.
Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week |
Escalera captured top honors in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the cold and rainy BSU Bears Invitational. Posted a time of 12.59 seconds in the 100, and 26.02 seconds in the 200. Qualified for the Division III New England Championships in both the 100 and 200. Currently ranks fourth in the East Region in the 100. (Should also rank second in the 200 but the wind reading didn’t take). Also placed second in the long jump with a distance of 4.98m. |
Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week |
Peterson won the high jump at the BSU Bears Invitational with a leap of 1.70m. Was just shy of her own school mark of 1.71m set last season. Qualified for the Division III New England Championships as well as the NEICAAA Championships in the high jump. Currently ranks first in all of Division III in the high jump. |
Women's Outdoor Rookie of the Week |
Goba placed fifth in the 1500 meter with a time of 5:13.98, while adding a seventh place time of 2:37.04 in the 800 meter for the Green and Gold at the 2023 BSU Bears Invite on Saturday. |
