BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Jayci Andrews has been selected as the 2019 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III New England Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Andrews is ranked first in all of Division III in the 100-meter hurdles with a BSU school record time of 13.86 seconds. She is also seventh nationally in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.58. Andrew's time in the 100 hurdles is tied for the 11th best performance in NCAA DIII history with a legal wind at the back.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Andrews also scored 32 points at the MASCAC Championships in April to help her team secure a runner-up finish in the conference standings.

Earlier this month, Andrews was named the recipient of the Debbie Aitken Award as the Most Outstanding Track Performer at the Division III New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She captured the individual titles in both the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles at the regional meet. In the preliminaries of the 100 hurdles, Andrews set the DIII New England meet record with her national qualifying time of 13.86 seconds.

Andrews will be making her third appearance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships later this week as she is seeded first in the 100 hurdles and seventh in the 400 hurdles. Last May, Andrews garnered All-American honors with a second place finish in the 100-hurdles at the 2018 outdoor championships.

Andrews has also competed at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on three occasions including this past March when she captured the national title in the 60-meter hurdles and became the first female NCAA national champion in Bridgewater State history.

Andrews presently holds nine individual school records at Bridgewater State (along with three relay marks). She is the Bears indoor record holder in the 55-meter hurdles (8.50), 60-meter hurdles (8.68), long jump (17'6.75"), 200-meter dash (26.37) and 400-meter dash (57.14), as well as the outdoor record holder in the 100-meter hurdles (13.86), 400-meter hurdles (1:01.37), 400-meter dash (55.76) and long jump (17'8.75").
