Westfield State Picked to Repeat as 2024 MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse Champions
Last season’s Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions Westfield State has been picked by the coaches from around the league to repeat as 2024 women’s lacrosse champs.

Westfield, Mass.— Last season’s Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions Westfield State has been picked by the coaches from around the league to repeat as 2024 women’s lacrosse champs.
The Owls earned six first place votes for 47 points in this year’s poll after going a perfect 7-0 in MASCAC play last season. Reigning MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year Emma Cretella is back after she collected 83 points on 60 goals and 23 assists which were all in the top five of the conference. She also registered 68 draw controls. 19 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers.
Sitting in second place is Framingham State with the final first place vote for 29 points. The Rams were 5-2 during conference action. In 2023, Hannah Guerin earned All-Conference honors for the third time in her career after notching a league leading 76 goals on the season. Guerin also led the MASCAC in points (100) and was fourth in assists with 24 on the season.
Bridgewater State is third with 26 points in this year’s poll. The Bears were also 5-2 in league play last season. Joining the team again this year is Camryn Gonsalves, who registered 30 goals and 15 assists for 45 points in 18 games during the 2023 campaign. She also added 21 ground balls, seven draw controls and nine caused turnovers to earn a spot on the All-Conference squad.
Landing in fourth with 23 points is Worcester State who also was 5-2 in 2023 MASCAC competition. Shea Jarvis grabbed All-Conference accolades after scoring 47 goals and 20 assists for 67 points while collecting 20 ground balls and 10 draw controls.
Coming in fifth in this year’s poll is Fitchburg State and Massachusetts Maritime with 12 points. The Falcons look to reigning MASCAC Rookie of the Year Jessica St. George this season after she netted 23 goals and 12 assists for 36 points along with 57 draw controls, 39 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. For the Buccaneers during the 2023 schedule, Cassie Llewellyn scored 52 goals this season, second most in a single season in program history, she recorded 17 assists and totaled 69 points. She scored 14 free position goals, picked up 75 ground balls, won 83 draw controls and caused 27 turnovers on defense.
Salem State rounds out the preseason poll in seventh with nine points. For the Vikings, Aislinn Bennett gathered 20 points on 13 goals and seven assists plus 19 draw controls, 15 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers during the 2023 season.
The MASCAC women’s lacrosse teams begin the 2024 campaign over the next few weeks with non-conference action while conference play begins the weekend of March 29-30.
