Bridgewater State’s McDonough, Worcester State’s Arbec Named 2019 MASCAC Women’s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year and Headline the 2019 Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Team
Victoria McDonough of Bridgewater State and Lauren Arbec of Worcester State are the 2019 MASCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year and headline the All-Conference teams which are voted on by the coaches from around the league.

Westfield, Mass. — Victoria McDonough of Bridgewater State and Lauren Arbec of Worcester State are the 2019 MASCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year and headline the All-Conference teams which are voted on by the coaches from around the league.
McDonough, a junior attack from Marshfield, Mass., helped the Bears to a 6-1 record in league play and the second seed in the conference tournament. She finished in the top 10 of the MASCAC in several statistical categories, including goals (52), assists (43), points (95), shooting percentage (62.7), draw controls (92) and caused turnovers (26). She currently ranks fourth all-time at Bridgewater State in assists (133) and draw controls (204) and is ninth all-time in scoring (258 points).
Arbec is the first-ever MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year. She helped the Lancers to four wins in conference play and the fourth seed in the tournament. She registered the second-most caused turnovers in the league with 30 and collected 59 ground balls, the fourth-most in the conference and second-most in school history. The Lancers’ defense caused 177 turnovers and a 8.81 goals against average.
Claiming the 2019 MASCAC Rookie of the Year is Madison Brennan of Worcester State. The freshman from Pomfret, Conn. netted 34 goals and two assists along with 46 draw controls, 37 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.
After leading the Rams to the MASCAC regular season title and the top seed in the tournament, James Rippey of Framingham State has been named the 2019 Champion’s Choice Coach of the Year.
Earning a spot on the 2019 MASCAC First Team with McDonough and Arbec are Bridgewater State’s Kelsi Brennan, Elizabeth Ettridge, Framingham State’s Grace Gamache and Hanna McMahon, Westfield State’s Caroline Arket, Sydney Lambert, Elizabeth Navoni, Olivia Overdahl and Maria Woodall and Worcester State’s Kelly Austin.
On this year’s MASCAC Second-Team All-Conference squad are Bridgewater State’s Lisa Moynihan and Kerrin O’Leary, Fitchburg State’s Nicole Kopacz and Tracy Long, Framingham State’s Casey Bradley, Bailey Donelly, Alissa Marino, Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath and Nicole Pacheco, MCLA’s Kim Granito, Westfield State’s Marissa Nimeskern, and Alexa Tonelli.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation’s first Division III men’s and women’s playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men’s ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2014.
