Five MASCAC Student-Athletes Receive NEWBA Postseason Honors

O'Day, Gray and Mosley earned a spot on the NEWBA All-Region Team while O'Connor and Gallela were selected to the All-Rookie Team.
Grabbing a spot on the NEWBA All-Region First Team, O’Day, a senior from Berlin, Mass., led the Rams to a perfect 12-0 record and the school’s first outright MASCAC regular season title and the tourament crown. She finished the regular season in the top five of the conference in several categories, including points per game (18.4), total points (496), rebounds per game (8.6), total rebounds (232) free throw percentage (83.3), three point percentage (41.2) and field goal percentage (45.9) and assists (85). O'Day was named the MASCAC Player of the Year for the 2nd time in her career as well as 1st Team All-MASCAC for the third straight season.
O'Connor took home a first team slot on the NEWBA All-Rookie Team. She was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Year and 2nd Team All-MASCAC after helping the Rams to a 22-6 record and the 2019-20 MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. O'Connor led the Rams in shooting percentage with a 56 percent clip scoring 13.8 points per game. The freshman collected 8.3 rebounds per game while adding 47 blocked shots, 20 steals and 34 helpers in a standout first season for the Rams.
Gray was named on the NEWBA All- Region third team, after also being named for the MASCAC First All- Conference team. Gray averaged at 21 points per game was first in the conference for points per game, three-pointers per game, and field goals per game. Gray led the nation in steals, at 4.54 per game, and in three pointers per game, with 3.96. Westfield finished the season with a 13-13 overall record and a 10-2 mark and in second place in the MASCAC.
Mosley transferred into Worcester State from Division II Franklin Pierce for her senior season, and the move paid immediate dividends for the Lancers. She ranked fourth in the MASCAC averaging 17.2 points per game, and added 25.7 points per game for the Lancers in the postseason. Mosley was a two-time MASCAC Player of the Week, one-time Worcester Area College Basketball Association and NEWBA Player of the Week, and one-time NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll selection. She was also named to the First Team All-MASCAC.
Gallella jumped right into the Lancers' vacant point guard position at the start of the season, and was a key piece of Worcester State's 19-win, MASCAC Championship finalist team. Gallella was a two-time Worcester Area College Basketball Association Rookie of the Week and one-time MASCAC Rookie of the Week selection in her freshman season.
O'Day and Mosley along with Angelina Marazzi of Fitchburg State, Emily Velozo of Framingham State and Chelsea Mousette of Westfield State were picked to participate in the NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic on March 28. However due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the game was canceled.
