Four MASCAC Student-Athletes Selected for NEWBA All-Star Game
Bridgewater State senior forward Jennie Lindland, Framingham State senior center Alycia Rackliffe, MCLA senior forward Kayla Hotaling and Westfield State senior guard Jill Valley have been selected to participate in the 2017 New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic, which will be held on Saturday, March 25 at Mount Holyoke College's Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium at 2 p.m.
Bridgewater State senior forward Jennie Lindland, Framingham State senior center Alycia Rackliffe, MCLA senior forward Kayla Hotaling and Westfield State senior guard Jill Valley have been selected to participate in the 2017 New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic, which will be held on Saturday, March 25 at Mount Holyoke College's Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium at 2 p.m.
Nominations for the NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic were submitted by both coaches and sports information directors in the region, and selections were made based on a vote of the coaches.
Lindland averaged 10.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.6 steals in 26 games this season. The Edgartown, Massachusetts product also shot 52% (113-218) from the field. In her final collegiate game, Lindland set the BSU single-game scoring record with 38 points in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) semifinal round setback to eventual tournament champion Westfield State University.
Rackliffe was named to the 1st team All-MASCAC and an ECAC All-Star after she led the MASCAC in total rebounds (275), rebounds per game (10.6) and blocks (85) while also tallying 13.5 points per game, good for 4th in the league. She closes her career in 4th place on the Rams all-time scoring list with 1,215 points and school record holder for blocks in a game (9), season (92) and career (294).
Hotaling was an All MASCAC selection after leading the team in scoring and rebounding. Hotaling paved the way with 13.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game which were the fifth and second most in the conference at the end of the regular season. She became the seventh member of the 1,000 point club late in the season against Southern Vermont.
Valley, who was named MASCAC Player of the Year for the second straight year, led the conference in both points per game (22.5), steals per game (4.6) and free throw percentage (81%). Valley led the country in steals per game and ranked in the top 10 in scoring.
Recently, she was also named NEWBA First Team All-Region and to the D3Hoops 2016-17 Women's Basketball All-Northeast Region second team.
