Fitchburg State's Rose Earns ECAC DIII New England Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year, Framingham State's Rackliffe, Mulherin Named to All-Star Team
After earning the MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year honors, Fitchburg State's Kyra Rose was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference DIII New England Rookie of the Year. Framingham State's Alycia Rackliffe and Raegan Mulherin named to the All-Star team.
After earning the MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year honors, Fitchburg State's Kyra Rose was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference DIII New England Rookie of the Year. Framingham State's Alycia Rackliffe and Raegan Mulherin named to the All-Star team.
Rose concluded her freshman season, ranking third in the conference with 467 points to go along with 191 rebounds, 91 assists, 49 steals and 31 blocked shots for the Green and Gold.
The Fitchburg State women's basketball team finished the 2016-17 campaign with an overall record of 9-16 and 1-11 clip in conference play.
Rackliffe was named to the 1st team after she led the MASCAC in total rebounds (275), rebounds per game (10.6) and blocks (85) while also tallying 13.5 points per game, good for 4th in the league. She closes her career in 4th place on the Rams all-time scoring list with 1,215 points and school record holder for blocks in a game (9), season (92) and career (294).
Mulherin, an honorable mention selection, was 6th in the MASCAC in points per game (13.5) and was 5th in total points (351) through the end of the conference tournament. She ranked 2nd in 3-point baskets with 65 and 3rd in 3 point percentage at 38.5% while placing third in steals (59).
The Rams closed their season as the MASCAC Tournament Runners-up for the second straight year finishing the 2016-17 campaign with a program record 21 victories at 21-5.
