Valley Headlines 2015-16 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball All-Conference Team
Junior Jill Valley of Westfield State has been named the 2015-16 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year and heads the All-Conference team which is voted on by the seven coaches around the conference.
Westfield, Mass. — Junior Jill Valley of Westfield State has been named the 2015-16 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year and heads the All-Conference team which is voted on by the seven coaches around the conference.
The junior from Orange, Mass. has earned Player of the Year honors after leading the Owls to an 11-1 record in conference play and the top seed in the MASCAC Women’s Basketball Tournament. She finished the regular season second in the conference in points per game (17.6), first in three point percentage (42.9), free throw percentage (84), total points (439) and steals (85). This is the second straight year that Valley has been named to the All-Conference squad.
Britt Herring of Worcester State has been named the 2015-16 MASCAC Rookie of the Year. The freshman from W. Brookfield, Mass. helped her team to four conference victories and the sixth seed in the tournament. In her first year with the Lancers, Herring had the fifth most points in the league (13) and rebounds (8.8) while also tallying the third most blocks (55) and fourth most total rebounds (219). She was named MASCAC Rookie of the Week four times during the regular season.
After leading his team to a 10-2 MASCAC record and the second seed in the conference tournament, Walter Paschal of Framingham State has been named the 2015-16 Champion’s Choice Coach of the Year.
Joining Valley on the First Team All-Conference are Bridgewater State’s Jennie Lindland, Framingham State’s Raegan Mulherin and Alycia Rackliffe and Westfield State’s Forbasaw Nkamebo.
Landing a spot on the Second Team All-Conference with Herring are Bridgewater State’s Chanelle Melton, Framingham State’s Montá Connolly, MCLA’s Kayla Hotaling and Salem State’s Kaitlyn Bryan.
