Framingham State, Bridgewater State to Faceoff in MASCAC Softball Championship
Framingham State completed a perfect 10-0 MASCAC Softball season and earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming 2021 MASCAC Softball Championship. The Rams will host No. 2 Bridgewater State in a best-of-three series starting on Friday.
Framingham State will host the 2021 MASCAC Softball Championship after finishing the league season with a perfect 10-0 record. The Rams will host No. 2 seed Bridgewater State in a best-of-three series on Friday-Saturday, May 14-15.
Two games are scheduled for Friday at Framingham with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. Should the two teams split the doubleheader on Friday, a third and deciding game will be played on Saturday at noon.
The Rams were led offensively by graduate student Kristen Dick who batted .333 this year with a league-leading 23 RBI. Of Dick’s 28 team-leading hits, six were doubles, three were triples and three were home runs. In the circle, Shannon Ward and Ally Moran handled most of the pitching duties, finishing in the as the top two in most major pitching categories. Ward posted a league-best 1.28 ERA with 12 wins and 81 strikeouts, while Moran had a 1.53 ERA, 11 wins and 84 strikeouts.
The Bears, which went 6-3-1 in MASCAC games, got solid production at the plate from senior Alexandra Ruprecht. She led the team in hitting with a .415 average, a league-best four home runs, and 17 RBI. Kelley Reichert was the ace for the Bears in the circle. She won 12 games with 2.45 ERA and 81 strikeouts.
The winner of the MASCAC Championship will earn the conference’s automatic qualifier into the 2021 Division III Softball Championship.
