Bridgewater State Claims 2018 MASCAC Indoor Track and Field Championship
For the first time 2015, the Bridgewater State Bears are the MASCAC and New England Alliance Indoor Track and Field Champions which was run at Providence Technical Academy in Providence, R.I. on Saturday.

Bridgewater State finished with 232 points while runner-up Westfield State was next with 153 points. Worcester State and Fitchburg State rounded out the field in third in fourth with 126 and 69, respectively.
Bridgewater State took home five individual titles and two relays. Josh Higgins crossed the line first in the 600 meter run (1:21.91) while teammate Dylan Lynch was first in the 800 meter run (2:01.13). Joe Keough claimed the top MASCAC prize with a 2:34.30 3,000 meter finish. Trevor Wysong nabbed a conference title in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:22.11.
On the field side, Cameron Williamson earned a MASCAC title in the triple jump. His top leap of 14.25m (46' 9") was good enough for league accolades.
In the 4x400 relay, John Lara, Michael Kotleski, Lamont Haynes and Higgins crossed the line first with a new MASCAC mark of 3:25.40. Jacob Connor, Zack Viera, Keough and Lynch were league champs in the 4x800 with a time of 8:19.83.
Westfield State claimed two individual titles and the final relay. Riley Moore finished first in the pole vault with a top clearing of 4.10m (13' 5.25") while Dereck Stone had the furthest leap in the long jump at 6.71m (22' 00.25").
The quartet of William Canty, Paul James, Dorian Johnson and Mitchel Maslowski had the fastest time in the 4x200 at 1:32.15 to finish first.
Worcester State earned six individual titles. Edward Boamah was a two-time winner in the 200 meter dash (22.46) and 400 meter dash (50.42). John Ojukwu finished first in the 60 meter dash finals with a time of 6.94 seconds.
In the field events, Justin Lewis leaped the highest in high jump with a top clearing of 2.03m (6' 8"). For the throws, Marcus Vieira was first in the weight throw with a top distance of 17.38m (57' 00.25") while Elmer Acuna had the farthest throw in the shot put at 14.50m (47' 07.00").
Fitchburg State had three individual title winners on the day. Jake Hastings finished first in the mile run with a time of 4:23.45 for MASCAC honors. Brian Amaral grabbed the league crown in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:52.28 while teammate Cameron Stalters crossed the line first in the 60 meter hurdle finals in 8.66 seconds.
Bridgewater State claimed the Alliance title with 138.59 points over second place finisher Southern Maine who had 124. Westfield State was the next MASCAC school in fourth with 86 points.
