Worcester State Earns First MASCAC Indoor Track and Field Title
The Worcester State Lancers earned their first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship which was conducted on the campus of the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.

The Worcester State Lancers earned their first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship which was conducted on the campus of the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.
The Lancers grabbed their first conference team title with 198 points over runner-up Westfield State with 164 points. Fitchburg State and Bridgewater State rounded out the field in third and fourth with 110 and 108 points, respectively.
Worcester State finished the day with six individual league titles and a relay crown. Marc George took home the 600 meter title with a time of 1:22.46 while teammate Jalil Gibson crossed the line first in the 55 meter dash in a time of 6.56 seconds. Jarrod Barros nabbed the 200 meter dash title with a time of 23.11.
In the field events, Scott Page cleared the best height in the pole vault to earn MASCAC honors at 4.10 meters (13' 5.25"). Marcus Vieira earned his first MASCAC medal with a top showing in the weight throw (17.93 meters/58' 10") while Sam Weeks retained his shot put title with a top throw of 15.83 meters (51' 11.25").
The Lancers topped the conference field in the 4x400 meter relay made up of Edward Boamah, Christian Cedullo, Momodou Kabareh and George with a time of 3:27.54.
Fitchburg State tallied six individual titles on the day. Brian Amaral set a new MASCAC and New England Alliance record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:18.89 and took home another league title in the 3,000 with a time of 8:50.61. Jake Hastings grabbed the MASCAC crown in the mile run with a time of 4:22.02 while Cameron Stalters raced his way to a league title in the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 7.90 seconds. Chauncey Beatty added a MASCAC title to his name with a first place finish in the 800 meters (2:00.29).
In the field events, Ben Sattiewhite claimed the MASCAC crown in the high jump with a top clearing of 1.99 meters (6' 6.25").
Westfield State took home two individual titles and a relay. Connor Gottzmann was first in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:36.77. On the field side, Dereck Stone claimed the long jump league honor with a top leap of 6.95 meters (22' 9.75").
In the 4x800 meter relay, Tevin Cintron, Pat Brett, Gottzmann and Sam Harding finished first with a time of 8:18.11.
Bridgewater State earned two individual titles and the final relay. Lamont Haynes finished first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.82 seconds. On the field side, Cameron Williamson leaped the further in the triple jump with a top jump of 13.82 meters (45' 4.25") to earn the MASCAC title.
In the 4x200 meter relay, Alex Goss, Kyle Cordeiro, Haynes and Michael Kotleski grabbed the MASCAC title with a time of 1:32.07.
Southern Maine took home the New England Alliance team title with 144.50 points while Worcester State finished in second with 113.50. Westfield State finished in third with 98.50 points.
