Westfield State Claims 2016 MASCAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Title
The Westfield State Owls men's team claim the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in Plymouth, New Hampshire at the George E. Davis Track hosted by Plymouth State.

PLYMOUTH, N.H.--The Westfield State Owls men's team claim the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in Plymouth, New Hampshire at the George E. Davis Track hosted by Plymouth State.
The meet was run in conjunction with the New England Alliance Meet that features Little East schools.
Westfield State closed out the night with six individual titles and two relay victories. Kenneth Parece in the 1,000 meter run (2:35.11), Michael Stender the 400 meter dash (52.11) and Mike Skelly in the 3,000 meter run (8:59.38) all had top finishes on the track side. In the field events, Travon Godette for high jump (1.98m/6’6”), John Latour in long jump (6.73m/22’ 1”) and brothers Zach and Patrick Delisle tied in pole vault (4.10m/13’ 5.25”) and claimed the top spot in their events.
The quartet of Tevin Cintron, Matt Moussamih, Parece and Jonathan Kelland won the 4x800 relay with a time of 8:18.82 while Esteafan Jack, Patrick Delisle, Edison Perez and Michael Stender crossed the line in 3:29.21 for the 4x400 relay crown.
Runner-up Worcester State had three MASCAC Champions on the day. Sam Weeks was a dual winner in both the weight throw (15.13m/49 7.75”) and shot put (15.36m/50’ 4.75”) while Jared Barros finished first in the 200 meter run with a time of 23.05.
Fitchburg State has three MASCAC Champ on the day. Brian Amaral, Chauncey Beatty and Jake Hastings claimed them for the Falcons. Amaral crossed the line first in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:30 for a new MASCAC record. Chauncey Beatty took home top honors in the 600 (1:23.41). Hastings nabbed first place honors in the mile with a time of 4:27.24,
Rounding out the top finishers was Bridgewater State with four and the final relay. On the track, Conor Murtagh was first in the 60 meter hurdles (8.17) and Chinedu Chukwu in the 60 meter dash (6.99). Kevin Sawyer finished first in the 800 meter run (2:01.24). Cameron Williamson was a MASCAC Champion in the triple jump with a top leap of 14.16m (46’ 5.50”) The Bears' group of Chinedu Chukwu, Michael Kotleski, Alex Goss, and Conor Murtagh nabbed the 4x200 relay title with a time of 1:33.10.
Southern Maine was the top team finisher for the Alliance with 153.83 points while Westfield State was in second with 137.17 points.
