Salem State’s Prince Named 2021 MASCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year, Salem State’s Filetti Repeats as MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year, Headline 2021 MASCAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team

Westfield, Mass. — Salem State’s Kendy Prince is the 2021 MASCAC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year while teammate Patrick Filetti repeats as the 2021 MASCAC Defenensive Player of the Year. The duo headlines the 2021 All-Conference team as voted on by the coaches from around the conference.
Prince, a freshman from Medfield Mass., had a solid first season with the Vikings, leading the team to the MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Prince netted 20 goals, 44 points, seven game-winning goals and was 4-for-4 in penalty kicks, which are all the best marks in the conference. His goals scored and total points are the fourth-best in the Vikings’ record book with his game-winners as the second-most for the school. Throughout the 2021-22 season, he was named MASCAC Player of the Week three times and Rookie of the Week five times. Prince is the second Salem State player in the last five years to sweep player and rookie of the year honors, sharing the feat with Mayele Malango (2017).
For the second time, Filetti has been named the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year. The senior from Newburyport, Mass., helped anchor a defense that didn’t allow a single goal during the MASCAC slate of the regular season while registering 10 shutouts with an opponent shooting percentage of .122 and a goals against average of 1.26.
After leading his team to the 2021 MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament titles, Matt Correia was named the 2021 Champion’s Choice Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year by his peers.
Joining Prince and Filetti on the 2021 MASCAC First Team is Liam Lenihan and Kevin Roberts of Bridgewater State, Sherak Ayamga and Kunphel Sinha of Framingham State, David Jamina of MCLA, and Lucas Amaral, Daman Deocleciano, Matt Hauntsman and Aaron O’Toole of Salem State
Landing on the 2021 MASCAC Second Team is Carsten Boloz, Robson Montrond and Justin Silva of Bridgewater State, Cameron Lau, Bryce Borletto-McCray and Jared Nardizzi of Framingham State, Cola Bean, Sam Edge, Junior Florent and Colin Rousseau of MCLA and Matt Alzamora of Worcester State.
