Worcester State Earns Number One Seed in 2016 MASCAC Men's Soccer Tournament
The Worcester State Lancers have earned the number one seed in the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament which starts on Tuesday with the quarterfinal games.

Starting with the quarterfinal match-ups, November 1 third seed Framingham State will host sixth seed Fitchburg State at 4 pm followed by fourth seed MCLA entertaining fifth seed Bridgewater State at 6 pm.
The winner of MCLA/Bridgewater State will take on top seed Worcester State on Friday, November 4 at 4 pm then second seed Massachusetts Maritime will host the winner of Framingham State/Fitchburg State at 7 pm. The winner of the two semifinal contests will face off Sunday, November 6 for the MASCAC Tournament Title.
The Lancers not only earned the top spot in next week's tourney but also a first round bye with their 5-2 record in MASCAC play. Jason Barrett leads the league in all major goalie categories, including save percentage (.839), goals-against average (0.94), goals against (9) while also finishing with the second most wins in the league with seven.
Grabbing the other first round bye is Massachusetts Maritime with the second seed. The team closed out the league schedule with a 4-1-2 record. Mike Pruchnik was strong in goal for the Buccaneers this year, finishing second in the conference in saves (84), third in shutouts (2), fourth in wins (6) and fifth in save percentage (.800).
Sitting in the third spot is Framingham State who finished conference action with a 4-3 record. Ken Stahovish finished the regular season first in the MASCAC with six assists, fifth in total points with 18 and the second most shots in the league with 52.
MCLA is the fourth seed with a 3-3-1 conference record. Anthony Basile leads the MASCAC in goals with 10, total points with 22, total shots with 65 while also finishing the regular season with the second most game-winning goals with three.
Wrapping up the tournament field in fifth and sixth are Bridgewater State and Fitchburg State, respectively. The Bears finished with a 3-3-1 mark in league action. Filipe Gomes led the Bears with seven goals and two assists for 16 points while also netting a game-winning goal. The Falcons tabbed three wins during the conference schedule. Matt Krikorian, in his first year with the team, netted the third most goals in the MASCAC (9), fourth highest points (19) and found the back of the net on two game-winning goals.
Last season Bridgewater State claimed the 2015 MASCAC Tournament Title with a 3-2 win over Framingham State to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
