Salem State Picked to Threepeat at 2023 MASCAC Men’s Golf Championship
Back-to-back MASCAC Men’s Golf Champion Salem State has been chosen to claim their third straight title at the 2023 MASCAC Men’s Golf Championship as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

Westfield, Mass.— Back-to-back MASCAC Men’s Golf Champion Salem State has been chosen to claim their third straight title at the 2023 MASCAC Men’s Golf Championship as voted on by the coaches from around the league.
Salem State claims the top spot with four first place votes for 16 points. Ryan O’ Leary returns for the Vikings after shooting a 158 over the two day championship last year (+16) to earn All-Conference accolades and help the team to the conference title.
Last year’s runner-up Springfield is second with a first place vote for 12 points. All-Conference honoree Nick DeMaio tied for fifth in the championship with a 157, including an opening round 76, and produced 19 pars and three birdies in his 36 holes of championship play.
Up next in third is Westfield State with 11 points and the final first place vote. The Owls finished third as a team and will look to Ethan Cadorette this season. During last year’s tournament, he finished tied for 21st with a two-day score of 173 (84-89).
Worcester State is tabbed to finish fourth with six points. Leading the Lancers during the 2022 Championship was Patrick Rennie who finished in 15th place with a two-day score of 166 (80-86).
Rounding out the preseason poll is MCLA in fifth with five points. The Trailblazers’ Paul Roeder was the top finisher for the team at last year’s championship with a day one score of 84 and day two of 91 for a 175 over the two day championship.
Over the next few weeks, the MASCAC men’s golf teams will get the 2023 season started which culminates in the MASCAC Championship on September 30-October 1 hosted by Salem State at Beverly Golf Course in Beverly, Mass.
